Probiotics are microorganisms which provide a benefit to the host’s health, including humans. Industrial manufacturing of probiotics for human health requires cultivating microorganisms in a manner that preserves cell fitness and viability. Many bacterial probiotics fall within the genera Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium which are both well known for their complex requirements for cell growth.
These requirements can be provided via yeast derived nutrients utilization. Both are common ingredients in probiotic culture media and prove to be a natural and animal free source of proteins, peptides, free amino acids, nucleotides, vitamins, and micronutrients.
